IDSA Weighs in on WHO Immunization Strategy
In a comment letter to the World Health Organization on the draft global immunization strategy the WHO is developing for 2021 through 2030, IDSA urges the WHO to include specific and measurable, global-level immunization targets on MMR, DTaP and IPV, among others, in the strategy. In addition, IDSA urges the organization to better address ways to ensure communities in conflict settings have access to vaccines. The letter calls for stronger language on prioritizing the development of better tools for providers to effectively communicate with vaccine-hesitant communities and provide resources to health workers to better address the growing challenge of vaccine hesitancy.
