IDSA congratulates the distinguished physicians and scientists from the United States and around the world who were elected this year to be Fellows of IDSA.

IDSA continues to educate policymakers about the important role of laboratory developed tests (LDTs) in ID patient care and public health and to share our concerns about proposals from Congress and the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) to impose burdensome regulations on the development and use of LDTs that could seriously jeopardize patient access to high quality testing.

Through its first annual Women of ID campaign, the IDSA Foundation honored four phenomenal women who have made a profound impact on our everyday lives by transforming the field of infectious diseases.

IDSA joined the American Society of Tropical Medicine and Hygiene, the Global Health Council, PATH, and the Global Health Technologies Coalition to sponsor a congressional staff study tour of the CDC’s Center for Global Health in Atlanta, Ga. in August.

“Accounts of young addicts presenting with strokes from endocarditis put a human face on the [opioid] problem,” shared IDSA member Marcia Epstein, MD, FIDSA following her meeting with aides to Senators Chuck Schumer and Kirsten Gillibrand of New York. Dr. Epstein noted the impact of emphasizing patient stories over statistics.
