IDSA Co-Sponsors CDC Congressional Study Tour
IDSA joined the American Society of Tropical Medicine and Hygiene, the Global Health Council, PATH, and the Global Health Technologies Coalition to sponsor a congressional staff study tour of the CDC’s Center for Global Health in Atlanta, Ga. in August.
Seven congressional staff from key Senate and House offices with jurisdiction over global infectious diseases funding and policies met with senior CDC officials, including Director Robert Redfield, MD, pictured at far left, and toured the CDC’s emergency operations center, and HIV, TB and AMR laboratories. The tour provided congressional staff with the opportunity to learn more about the CDC’s important role in protecting and promoting global health security and their role in U.S. responses to global HIV and other infectious diseases.
