Science Speaks
The IDSA/HIVMA global Science Speaks blog continued its 116th Congress series on new leaders and members of committees influencing decisions on international health responses and research with a look at six freshman Representatives on the House Foreign Affairs Subcommittee on Africa, Global Health and Human Rights subcommittee. Including a former “vodka and gelato tycoon,” a young woman from Somali who got her political start translating community meetings for her immigrant grandfather, a lawyer with a past on a picket line, and a Tennessee legislator who became nationally known for a bill lifting restrictions on eating road kill, they bring a span of American experiences to oversight of worldwide issues.
