Science Speaks covers Ebola and Global Health Security
IDSA and HIVMA’s Science Speaks blog continued its Ebola coverage with posts before and after a WHO-convened emergency committee again decided that the ongoing Democratic Republic of Congo/Uganda outbreak does not constitute a Public Health Emergency of International Concern (PHEIC).
In addition, IDSA Senior Global Health Policy Specialist Rabita Aziz reported live from the Global Health Security 2019 conference on topics that included:
- Global health security leaders’ response to the WHO committee’s decision that the outbreak, which earlier in the week had spread to Uganda, is not a PHEIC;
- How unmet needs exacerbate the worldwide threat posed by drug-resistant tuberculosis;
- Pacific Island health officials confronting the dual and linked threats of pandemic-potential outbreaks and climate change.
