New Web Page for Opioid Resources
Check out IDSA's and HIVMA’s new Infectious Diseases & the Opioid Epidemic web page to access clinical tools and resources and policy and advocacy resources. Available resources include a recording of the Managing Infections in Opioid Users session from IDWeek 2017; an online directory of substance use treatment providers and syringe access programs and information on the Providers Clinical Support System which offers Medication Assisted Treatment Waiver training and an “ask the expert” online consultation service.
The resources were compiled to assist members working on the frontlines of the opioid epidemic. Please email us with recommendations for other resources to add. IDSA and HIVMA also organized a Medication Assisted Treatment (MAT) Waiver workshop that will take place on October 2, 1 pm-5:30 pm PT prior to IDWeek. Click here to learn more about the MAT and other pre-meeting workshops. You can sign up for the workshop when you register for IDWeek. If you have already registered, you will receive an email with information for adding it to your registration or you may call 847-996-5829.
IDSA and HIVMA also hosted a Facebook Live interview this week with Dr. Alysse Wurcell, from the Geographic Medicine and Infectious Diseases Department at Tufts Medical Center, on the infectious diseases impacts of the opioid epidemic. Dr. Wurcell, a clinician and researcher with expertise in HIV and hepatitis C, specializes in the care of individuals who inject drugs and those involved with the justice system. You can watch the interview on IDSA’s Facebook page.
