Public Health Funding for FY 2019 is in the Works–Let Congress Know What Matters to You
The Fiscal Year (FY) 2019 federal appropriations process is quickly moving forward. The House and Senate appropriations subcommittees, including the Labor, Health, and Human Services (LHHS) subcommittee and the State and Foreign Operations subcommittee (which covers many global health programs) will soon meet to determine how much funding key domestic and global ID/HIV programs receive, including programs at the National Institutes of Health (NIH), the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), the Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA), the US Agency for International Development, and the State Department.
Your voice, as a constituent, matters to your members of Congress – in fact, your advocacy was instrumental in securing increases of $3 billion for NIH and $806 million for CDC for FY2018. Please take two minutes to ask your members of Congress to support robust funding in the FY2019 budget to address infectious diseases including HIV.
