IDSA Releases New C. diff Infection Clinical Quality Measure
The Guideline Recommended Treatment of Clostridioides difficile Infection (CDI) clinical quality measure is now available for use by health care organizations and clinicians as a tool to ensure they are following guideline recommended treatment for patients with CDI. The new clinical quality measure can be used to uncover prescribing patterns for patients with CDI at the physician- or system-level to improve patient outcomes.
The CDI clinical quality measure was developed by IDSA’s Quality Improvement Committee in collaboration with the IDSA-SHEA 2017 Clinical Practice Guidelines for Clostridium difficile Infection in Adults and Children panel. Together they convened a CDI Clinical Quality Measures work group to develop quality measures to facilitate the use of evidenced based, best practices for the improvement of health outcomes of patients with CDI.
Please visit the IDSA Quality Improvement website to download the full measure specifications for the Guideline Recommended Treatment of Clostridioides difficile Infection (CDI) measure concept.
IDSA is open to discussions with health care providers interested in implementing this measure as well as opportunities for testing the measure concept for feasibility, reliability, and/or validity. Please contact Thomas Kim, Program Officer, Quality Improvement with any questions or comments.
