What’s The Big IDea?
Members share why they participate in advocacy
IDSA and HIVMA are hosting The Big IDea: Infectious Diseases/HIV Education & Advocacy Day -- our first large scale day of action on Tuesday, Oct. 1 in Washington, DC. Interested in joining us? Sign up here.
On the eve of IDWeek 2019, this advocacy day is an opportunity for ID and HIV providers to meet with members of Congress to educate them on federal programs critical to preventing and treating infectious diseases and HIV and improving public health in the U.S. and globally. Constituents telling their stories can set policy change in motion. Teams of ID and HIV providers will be led by experienced member advocates and IDSA and HIVMA staff.
No prior advocacy experience is needed to participate. IDSA and HIVMA staff will schedule meetings and offer advocacy trainings and resources to help educate congressional staff. Space is limited and will be capped at 100, with special attention given to ensure participants reflect the diversity and scope of the field of ID and HIV.
