“Public Charge” News that May Affect Your Patients

The administration is expected to soon release updated rules and proposed rules related to when an immigrant who is a legal U.S. resident may be considered a “public charge,” affecting their ability to enter or stay in the U.S. Due to concerns previously raised by HIV providers regarding their patients who are immigrants discontinuing treatment or being at risk, HIVMA is sharing this resource that was developed with the National Alliance of State and Territorial AIDS Directors in February 2018 on access to prevention, care and treatment for communicable diseases for immigrants.
