IDSA’s Public Health Committee Advancing ID Priorities on Capitol Hill
IDSA member Ricardo Franco, MD and Rep Terri Sewell (D-AL)
IDSA Public Health Committee Chair Matt Zahn, MD and members Ricardo Franco, MD and Preeti Malani, MD met with 22 congressional offices from their states earlier this month, all of whom were well-positioned to help advance IDSA policy priorities. Our meetings covered the following issues: ID physician recruitment and reimbursement, including updating payment codes; pandemic and bioterror preparedness, including workforce and antimicrobial resistance; and federal funding for domestic and global ID/HIV research and public health initiatives.
