Science Speaks Covers the 50th Union World Conference on Lung Health
The 50th Union World Conference on Lung Health brought tuberculosis treatment advocates, physicians, scientists, policy makers, and the IDSA/HIVMA global Science Speaks blog to Hyderabad, India from Oct. 30 to Nov. 2.
A year after the United Nations held its first high-level meeting on strategies to end the global impacts of tuberculosis, Science Speaks covered progress toward that goal, including:
- breaking news of a tuberculosis vaccine candidate showing efficacy in protecting adults from developing active disease;
- research targeting multidrug-resistant tuberculosis;
- and findings that socioeconomic support spurs improved screening for tuberculosis, as well as uptake of preventive therapy.
