Welcome to IDWeek 2018: Not-to-Miss Sessions & Activities

We hope you’re ready for a week of great sessions and networking opportunities. Here are just a few highlights of what’s happening at the premier infectious diseases meeting to add to your calendar for the week.

IDea Incubator:  Cash prizes will be awarded to the top individuals or teams with an early-stage product concept designed to improve ID care, including $10k for first place, as selected by the judges and audience members. Thursday, Oct. 4, 5 p.m., Exhibit Hall.

Cocktails and Conversation: Following brief Society updates from IDSA President Paul Auwaerter, MD, MBA, FIDSA and HIVMA Chair Melanie Thompson, MD, join us for a Q&A session with CDC Director Robert Redfield, MD on Friday, Oct. 5, 5-6 p.m., Moscone North, Hall D

BugBowl: Arguably the most fun event at IDWeek. Watch teams of medical students square off in a Jeopardy-style ID quiz bowl. Saturday, October 6 at 5 p.m. in Moscone North, Hall D.

Live from IDWeek! Join IDSA for a Facebook Live discussion with Dr. Tom Quinn, chair of IDSA’s Global Health Committee, as we discuss the United Nations High Level Meeting on ending tuberculosis, held last week during the UN General Assembly. Dr. Quinn and president Dr. Paul Auwaerter represented IDSA at the first UN High Level Meeting dedicated to ending the world’s biggest infectious disease killer by 2030. Dr. Quinn will discuss what it will take to eliminate TB, the outcomes of the meeting, and the U.S. role going forward. Tune in to IDSA’s Facebook page at 1 pm EST to join in the discussion.
