Supporting VACCINES on Capitol Hill
Vaccine experts gathered earlier this month to speak to congressional staff at a briefing titled “Preventing Outbreaks: Working Together to Increase Vaccine Confidence.” IDSA Board Member, Dr. Jeff Duchin, FIDSA and Dr. Nancy Messionier of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention were among the presenters. The briefing also featured remarks from the lead sponsors of the VACCINES Act, Representatives Michael Burgess (R-TX) and Kim Schrier (D-WA). The VACCINES Act seeks to increase surveillance related to vaccine hesitancy, as well as increase funding and research into the issue. The panel discussed policies and investments needed to ensure high vaccination rates.
